Please join The Renaissance Society for an opening reception for Anna Shteynshleyger, Sunday January 3, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00pm. There will be a talk with the artist in Kent Hall room 120, from 5:00 to 6:00pm.
Chicago-based artist Shteynshleyger belongs to a generation of photographers whose work is notable for its formal beauty and technical execution. Twenty-three works poignantly document Shteynshleyger's life over the past several years. During this period Shteynshleyger renegotiated her relationship to Orthodox Judaism, which she began to practice at the age of 16 after moving to the United States from Moscow where she was born. Too personal to qualify as documentary of the Orthodox Jewish community, Shteynshleyger's work spans a variety of genres -- portraits, still-life, landscape, and interiors. The images display a sensitivity of their subjects that is as questioning as it is knowing.

The Painterly Print: Digital Grounds for Fine Artists, and Photographers

Using our new digital grounds, we can print images from our computer's printer on any of a variety of surfaces: paint skins, gels, acetate, metallic papers. . .These are wonderful techniques for mixed media artists,creating layers- or for limited edition multiples- and at reprographics we will see large scale prints (giclees) on linen using our products and their printers. Some New Things Happening for Peter & Gwen Jones

Peter & Gwen will be showing some of their new(post retirement) work at Murphy Hill Gallery, 3333 Arthington Chicago. Gwen will be showing a series of small quilts that merge into a larger work. Deborah Adams Doering

Deborah’s installation proposal was juried into ArtPrize 2009, the international art exhibition

and competition taking place in Grand Rapids, MI from September 23 – October 10, 2009.

Her earthwork will contain over 200 of her “Codes,” eco-painted on the 500 x 100 foot

expanse of lawn in Ah-Nab-Awen Park, centrally located between the Grand River and

the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in downtown Grand Rapids.

The first installation will be on view from September 23 – October 1. On October 1,

the installation will be mowed, leaving a grassy expanse for a weekend wedding.

On October 4, a second installation will be painted, referencing the first installation

and the wedding event.

solely by public vote. Voters must register at an official ArtPrize Voter Registration Site in

Grand Rapids to vote.

Hello!

I'm looking for someone with expertise in wood carving. A statue made for the Anawim Center in Chicago, a Native American organization, has developed cracking issues and needs repair.

The statue is recently carved, and stands about 5 feet high.

Any information about possible repair would be greatly appreciated.
