"Seated Stories" is a mixed media exhibit featuring works from commissioned artists including professional barbers of various nationalities which explores and celebrates the art, culture and tradition of barbering from 1927 to present. On July 12, 2009, the highly anticipated precursor previewed at the Aloft Hotel in Rosemont, IL. We have now set touring destinations for the Illinois 2009 tour.
| What We Are Looking For
We are looking for seasoned artists who would like to donate their piece to the exhibition. Artists will receive a commission each time print is sold. You will act as an illustrator for Hyde Park Hair Salon. THE PIECE MUST ILLUSTRATE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: BARBERING MEN'S HAIR THE BARBERSHOP HAIR CUTS HAIR STYLES FOR MEN TOOLS BARBERS USE *please do not send examples of items not related to the above mentioned. We are open to all mediums. It is the third oldest business in the Hyde Park community which is considered one of Chicago's most culturally rich and diverse Southside neighborhoods and located just a few blocks north of the historic Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House and is a short stroll from the steps of President Barack Obama's Chicago home. Hyde Park Hair Salon has serviced many great figures and visitors to Chicago, legends such as: Mohammed Ali, Harold Washington, Hall of Famer Lou Brock, Filmmaker Spike Lee, Japanese entertainer/ comedian Nozomu Sato, various Chicago Bear players, Chicago White sox owner Bill Veeck, Entertainment Attorney Walter M. Dale, Basket Ball Star Rick Foxx and of course their most prestigious client "President Barack Obama".
